VINTAGE:
2018
APPELLATION: McGregor (in the Robertson Valley of South Africa.)
VINEYARD DETAIL: This wine is produced exclusively from McGregor grapes where the vineyards are nestled between the foothills of the Riviersonderend mountains and nurtured by sun soaked soils and fresh mountain water.
HARVEST INFORMATION: Date: Mid Feb | Type: Machine & Hand | Yield: 10 Tons / Ha  
VINIFICATION: The red Pinotage grapes were destemmed, crushed and mash-cooled before getting 3 – 5 hours skin contact before pressing.  Free-run juice was settled overnight at low temperature.  Clear juice was inoculated with selected yeast for cold fermentation.  After fermentation the wine underwent 4 – 5 months ageing on the lees, after which it was racked before preparing for bottling.

T.A.: 6.1 g/l Total SO2: 105 mg/l

WINEMAKER’S COMMENT: Blushing Bride Protea flowers are native to South Africa.  The story has it that they are nicknamed “blushing brides” as the story goes that men who would be on their way to propose would wear one in their buttonhole, and everyone in town would know.   With a combination of romantic folklore, South African pride and sheer gorgeousness, this wine has it all – from fresh cherries and candy floss on the nose, to a clean and fruity finish.
SERVED: Serve between 12 – 15°C.  A favorable companion to a wide range of seafood like a pan seared salmon and fresh green salad; or crayfish; or scallops in butter saffron sauce.
